Summer's End
This is a panel done in lead came that measures a little over 31\" by 31\" including the 3/4\" zinc outerbar. The pattern is from a CD I purchased from Paned Expressions Studios and is entitled \"Summer's End.\" The original pattern was 20\" by 20\", and I resized it and played around with glass selection using Glass Eye 2000. The panel was made as a present for my daughter, Amanda, who has always loved things having a sun and/or moon motif. The outer glass is a steel blue Spectrum waterglass that gives the illusion of deep space. The rings are Armstrong blue/opal streaky and represent the blue sky of daylight with wispy clouds. I used two sizes of lead came, with the smaller came used to emphasize the delicate features of the sun and moon. Depending on the time of day and the amount of light, the sun and moon faces take on different tints to lend interest to the panel.
