Dave and Dylan
I have enclosed a jpeg of a piece I finished not too long ago. It is entitled, 'Dave and Dylan.' I like to build things that look as though they may have come out of an older home, been around for a long time. The stained glass itself is about twenty-three by twenty-three inches. The frame or window that I built for it, finished, is about thirty-nine by twenty-eight inches. By using the came and the copper foil on it I avoided using any unecessary lines in it by adjusting the pattern to fit where the came came together. Just \"had to do\" the overalls because they were so adorable...and I got lucky when the glass came it had some great highlights that worked well, I think. The rest of the glass is actually bits and pieces left over from other projects. I imagined the little boy in the piece holding a grasshopper in his hands, inspecting it, with his teddy bear sitting next to him.
Bret's Bass
Me, again. I have enclosed another piece for submission to your gallery. It is entitled 'Bret's Bass' the motivation, believe it or not, was a scrap piece I happened to find that looked to me like it would be perfect for the inside of the mouth. It is about three feet tall and about two feet wide in the frame. Again, I like to put the pieces in architectural elements. I decided to use a glass engraver to outline the finer lines in the fins and filled them in with a Sharpie. Bret is my son-in-law. He loves to fish.
Cathy's Fairy
Why stop now, uh? I have enclosed another piece for you consideration. We had a round window that was just too large a hole in the house so I built a window for it...my wife loves fairies, so we incorporated a fairy into it. The fairy itself is about ten inches from head to toe. And looks like it is floating in the space. We used scrap pieces we had from other projects. I save every bit of my clear scraps for little things like this. As you cann see, we sign our pieces. The signature is directly under the fairy. We don't sell anything, we just do it for fun, ending up giving most everything away.
