Essence of a Vase
The sculpture uses two materials, stained glass and soldered brass wire. The brass wire is about 1/8 inch in diameter and comes in three foot lengths. To solder the brass wire, I've devised a three foot long jig to hold the wire while a drill, operating at a slow speed rotates the wire. As the wire rotates, I solder the wire uniformly from one end to the other. The wire is bent into circles of the proper diameter, and the foiled glass is soldered to the wire circles at the top and bottom. The size of the sculpture is 12 inches high and 8 inches wide.

The vertical glass triangles are soldered to the top and bottom triangles of wire. The size of the sculpture is 13 inches high and 9 1/2 inches wide.
