Tulips
The title of the piece is Tulips, designed and produced me. The design consists of Antique, Baroque and Opalescent glass chosen for effect. Most of the glass was manufactured by and purchased from a local independent glass maker no longer in business 30 some years ago. The sun-catcher measures 22.25 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide. It is constructed of copper foil and rimmed with 16 gauge copper wire for strength. The finish is copper patina to soften the effect of the piece. The stand is .375 outside diameter copper tubing shaped by hand in an organic configuration, weighted with ball bearings and topped with a crimson marble to seal the end. The stand measures 30.5 inches tall by 9.75 inches in diameter. The piece was designed and produced as a donation to St. Peters Church and School of Schaumburg, Illinois for their 2012 Church and School fundraising auction.
